Periscope Capital Partners was launched to provide a solution to the well-known Defence Industry impediment that is stifling the growth of innovative small to medium enterprises and consequently, the growth of our sovereign Defence and National Security capability. Periscope Capital Partners is one of few early movers pioneering private capital investment into Australian Defence Industry. Our goal is to deploy $1bn of investment capital into sovereign Australian Defence Industry in the next decade, enabling Australia to build a truly sovereign Defence capability.
We support Defence Industry enterprises and provide capital to help businesses undertake truly transformational journeys. We believe investment in Australian Defence companies will build our sovereign capability, keeping profits and jobs in Australia. The investment case is simple. A fully realised ADF capability and National Security Industry enables a more prosperous economy for all Australians, and a stronger position on the global stage.
At commencement Periscope has three funds operating:
Specialist Fund
The Specialist Fund will seek opportunities for its investors in key Defence theses such as Defence manufacturing and Defence infrastructure.
The General Fund will provide flexibility to invest through the full life cycle from early stage to mature. Depending on the appetite of our LPs, it may have some or no ESG constraints.

ESG-Free Fund
The ESG-Free Fund will have capital to deploy to Defence companies developing capability that has traditionally been difficult to support and what we would call ‘in front of the barrel’ opportunities.
Investing in Australia’s Defence Industry
Periscope Capital Partners has a genuine desire for Australian Defence Industry enterprises to win more work and be capable of delivering larger projects with the Australian Defence Force and Australian Intelligence Community.
Veteran and Private Capital expertise
This will be achieved by deeply experienced Veterans working with their Private Capital colleagues to support Australian Defence Industry. This is the key to building true sovereign capability. Not only are they intrinsically driven by the organisational mission, but they also enable Periscope to offer capability and geopolitical insights to our clients that cannot otherwise be contextualised without direct service experience.
